Biography
Victor S.A. Fitzsimons graduated from East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan, in 2001. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Photojournalism from Central Michigan University in Mt Pleasant, Michigan, in 2005, where he worked as a photographer at the student newspaper, CM Life, as well as in the Journalism Department photo lab.
After graduation, he took a job as a photographer at the Mt Pleasant Morning Sun from 2005-2007. He left that job and did some traveling, before spending a year teaching English in Daejeon, South Korea as an assistant teacher in the EPIK program.
He enrolled in graduate school at Central Michigan University in 2010, studying for his Master of Arts in Electronic Media Management. He completed the coursework but did not submit a thesis.
In the fall of 2014, Victor taught three sections of two Communications classes at Grand Valley State University.
In 2015, Victor submitted his first animation project to a music video contest for They Might Be Giants. Black Francis of The Pixies judged the entries and chose his video as one of three winners. Later that year, the band asked him to make the music video for their song "It Said Something," which he completed on a 12 day deadline.
In 2018, They Might Be Giants had another music video contest, which Victor again submitted to and whose entry was selected as one of two runner-up winners.
Currently, Victor lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a cat he calls Cheddar. He gets some temp work reading and scoring standardized test responses, but assignments are infrequent and he would rather be making art anyway.
